Type 1 diabetes is common among children. Insulin shots are essential to maintain glycemic control and therefore avoid long-term consequences of diabetes. Those with high glycemic levels are said to be in poor control. However, an ongoing research question is whether maintaining glycemic control affects growth and development in childhood.
