A study was done to see whether participants would ignore a sign that said, "Elevator may stick between floors. Use the stairs." There were three different situations, two of which involved confederates. A confederate (Conf) is a person who is secretly working with the experimenter. In the first situation, there was no other person using the stairs or elevatorl dash—that is, no confederate. In the second, there was a compliant confederate (one who used the stairs). In the third, there was a noncompliant confederate (one who used the elevator). Complete parts a through c.

14Explanation / Answer
In no Confederate case, percentage of people using stairs
= 6 / (6 + 13) = 6 / 19 = 0.3158. (Ans).
In Complaint case, percentage of people using stairs
= 17 / (17 + 2) = 17/19 = 0.8947. (Ans).
In non-complaint case, percentage of people using stairs
= 5 / (5 + 14) = 5 / 19 = 0.2632. (Ans).
So if we observe the percentage of people using stairs in each
case, in complaint case, the percentage is too high, whereas,
in other two cases it is low and the percentage is more or less
same. (Ans).
