Explanation / Answer

a) The distance measured could be in a continuous range like there could be infinite distance values even between 1 and 2 like 1.111, 1.1112 and so on. Therefore distance is a continuous random variable.

b) The number of hits on a website could only be discrete values in the form of whole numbers and therefore this is a discrete random variable.

c) The number of bald eagels is also a discrete variable for the same reason as in previous part because this could only take non negative whole numbers.

d) The number of textbook authors is also a discrete variable for the same reason as in previous part because this could only take non negative whole numbers.

e) Amount of snowfall is continuous variable because it can take any continuous values like between 2 integer volume values.
