Question

1) Based on the results of Levene's test, they conclude that they should ["reject", "fail to reject"] the null hypothesis suggesting that ["The variances are equal", "The variances are not equal", "The data are normally distributed", "The data are not normally distributed"] . Additionally, inspection of the ["QQ Plot", "Residual Scatter Plot"]       shows that ["the data points are closely clustered about the line", "there are clear deviations from the line", "the residuals are structureless", "there is a clear pattern in the residuals"]

2) .Based on a visual inspection of the QQ plot, they see that ["the data points are closely clustered about the line", "there are clear deviations from the line", "the residuals are structureless", "there is a clear pattern in the residuals"]         . In addition, the results of the ["Levene's", "Shaprio-Wilk"]         test suggest that they should ["reject", "fail to reject"]         the null hypothesis revealing that ["the variances are equal", "the variances are not equal", "the data are normally distributed", "the data are not normally distributed"]

3) Based on the results of this analysis, the design of this experiment can be considered valid and the engineers should not consider an alternative approach

a) True

b) false

4) Considering the results of the F test and the marginal means for the four processing methods, they should conclude:

a) True

b) false

Concerned about the validity of their experiment, the engineers investigate the assumptions of their approach. They observe the following results: Levene Statistic 6.409 df1 df2 003 Shapiro-Wilk df Statistic Unstandardized Residual 942 24 185 Normal Q-Q Plot of Unstandardized Residual Observed Value Scatterplot Dependent Variable: VAR00002 0.5 0.0 0.5 1.5 Regression Standardized Predicted Value

Explanation / Answer

1) Based on the results of Levene's test, they conclude that they should ["reject", "fail to reject"] the null hypothesis suggesting that ["The variances are equal", "The variances are not equal", "The data are normally distributed", "The data are not normally distributed"] . Additionally, inspection of the ["QQ Plot", "Residual Scatter Plot"]       shows that ["the data points are closely clustered about the line", "there are clear deviations from the line", "the residuals are structureless", "there is a clear pattern in the residuals"]

as the p value of levene's test is 0.03 , which is less than 0.05 , hence we reject the null hypothesis . The residulas doesnt appear to show a pattern

Most of the points on the QQ plot follow the line closely but they deviate too .

3) Based on the results of this analysis, the design of this experiment can be considered valid and the engineers should not consider an alternative approach

a) True

b) false

The results are satisfactory for the assumptions of the experiment.

4) Considering the results of the F test and the marginal means for the four processing methods, they should conclude:

There is no F test given , howvever , if the p value is less than 0.05 , then we can say that  there is difference in the levels but we cant be sure which levels are different , due to the omnibus nature of the F test

a) True

b) false
