ass graph! 4-4 Everyone is complaining about how the teacher made Jorge is confused about how the teacher decided to set up the graph. "Why is it a I"-quadrant graph instead of a 4-quadrant graph?" Answer Jorge's question. In general, how should you a. decide what kind of graph to use? b. Lauren is annoved with the r-axis. "Why didn't the teacher just use the numbers from the table?" she whined. "Why count by twenties?" What do you think? c. Hosai thinks that the graph is TOO BIG. The dots are all mashed togethert Vhy did the teacher begin both the x- and y-axes at zero? Anyone that would never be allowed on the roller coaster. Why not just start closer t short o he smallest numbers on the table?" she asked. What do you think? d. Sunita says the graph is TOO SMALL! Ifwe're supposed to be using this data to graph tall people's dots too." Do you agree? If so, how much room do to check if the coaster is safe for really tall people, the graph has to have room think is needed? you

Explanation / Answer

a) we use 1st quadrant graph when x>= 0 and y>= 0

note that in 1st quadrant ,we have x>= 0 and y>= 0

similarlty depending on the sign of x and y ,we can use different quadrants

b)

we count by twenties because it is easy to put on the axis ,later we can plot the data(xi,yi) when we divided the axis using suitable scale

c)

if you think the data start far away from 0 ,

then we can use kink to avoid putting small number we are not useful

d)

if data are big ,we can increase the scale on axis
