Question

3. Nick Jensen is the manager of a small chemical supply company and must deliver a bad news message to all employees. Nick needs to inform them that the tuition reimbursement program will be discontinued immediately, as the cost is too much. The message will explain that the company has lost money in three of the four prior years and that you need to take action to make the company profitable again. Currently 20 employees consistently took advantage of the program. Employees currently enrolled could be reimbursed for the courses during the present semester. Employees who had fewer than four courses left to receive an undergraduate degree would continue receiving reimbursement until they graduated. This included just three employees.write a bad news message in the appropriate form for nusiness messages.

Explanation / Answer

Dear Colleagues,

This is in reference to the tuition reimbursement program that the organization is exhibiting and following for employees and with a disheartening emotion I want to convey that the organization will discontinue the program. I understand the pain of the employees while conveying this message but the employees also need to think about the organization and its policies. The program was there so that employees can take the help of this program and get reimbursed for the expenses they incurred but the organization is losing money and has been doing so for the last three years and which has made the organization lose their wealth to quite some extent.

The organization therefore is unable to take responsibility of the program which it was doing and we are actually thinking of some alternative plans so that we can compensate to some extent which will be communicated accordingly.

Thanks

Nick
