If you’re not familiar with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, you should begin by researching existing IoT solutions. Many IoT solutions can be found on the internet. For this assignment, you need to do the following:

1. Design an internet of things solution for a specific company (your company may be real or fictional). Your paper should include no more than one brief paragraph about your company. This paragraph should include enough information about your company and its products and/or services so that your internet of things solution can be shown to be relevant to the company. Provide a description of the solution that begins with the reason for the IoT solution. Include a description of the overall design, and also include the components that make up your solution. So, you should research the types of components that make up internet of things solutions. A number of articles on the internet of things can be found on the internet

2. Work through your internet of design solution using issues and steps in the system development life cycle. Clearly show the connections between the SDLC phases and your internet of things solution.

3. In bullet form, list the security that will be used for your design. For each item, include a brief description of why it is needed, and how it will be used. Explanations need to be complete, but not necessarily lengthy. Also, while a budget is not provided, cost-effective solutions tend to be better for this assignment.

The company that we are dealing with is into transportation and logistics, it has been in existent since 1995 and has forayed into multiple segments catering to industry, pharmaceutical, retail and many other small and medium scale industries with their expertise in the logistics space. While being a industry neutral service, it has catered to most of the industries and has presence across the country and has partnered with firms throughout the world to make possible cross country logistics.

Now we are looking for an IOT solution for this company, first let us choose the stream that we would be operating in, pharma is one logistics arena where extra care needs to be taken and continuous monitoring is something that the company could invest in as the goods being transferred are of utmost importance and need to be maintained under certain conditions only.

The Internet of Things solution on offer is a logistics based continuous monitory system. First things first, every few years there is a set of guidelines published by the region’s authority regarding the medicinal goods distribution practice and mentions lots of details regarding how the medicines need to be handled with care and maintained in controlled environment with designated temperature limits so that the quality of the medicine is not compromised.

The technology based solution that is on offer is a passive monitoring solution which uses IOT and blockchain technology to ensure effective transportation of drugs and at the same time achieve cost savings apart from the data that is being collected which can be used for data analytics to give a far better insight and also results from analytics which can be used to achieve continuous improvement when it comes to logistics. The whole data is continuously fed into the web through proper channels and then the same can be handed over to the clients for achieving trust among them that all throughout the journey the conditions are being met.

While coming to the design of the solution, it consists of smart contracts within the block chain technology which would then serve as a source of information for both the seller, the receiver and the management of the company. IOT sensor devices such as temperature and pressure receivers are mounted on the trucks that are set out by the company. While the systems works through the above 2, the end user needs to be brought into the scenario, that is, a smart phone application would be the source of info and the same could be intergrated with the RFID or QR code to neatly embed with the crowd and bloody satisdaction. And finally, the dashboard which is nothing but a compilation of data and the interesting metrics that have been brought out through analytics, and from this preview is where long term plans have been made and opens up scope for automation as well.
