Question
On October 13, 1972, a plane crashed high in the Andes mountains, killing almost two-thirds of its forty-five passengers and crew and leaving the others exposed to below-zero temperatures and the threat of starvation. More than three months passed before they were found. After their rescue it was revealed that the survivors had resorted to eating the flesh of their dead companions as a means of survival. 8 Ruggiero. Explanation / Answer
An incident which has been quite an example of cannibalism due to the urge to live which happened when an Uruguayan flight carrying the Old Christians rugby team and their friends and family crashed down in the Andes mountain. There were in total 45 passengers out of whom 16 survived and were rescued after 72 days and in these 72 days the survivors did something that they may not have imagined even on their wildest nightmares and here they survived feeding on the flesh of the dead friends and families, there were a lot of speculation regarding the incident and many raised questions about the ethical implications as well. I believe that the incident was fair and justified because the primary objective is to save lives and there can be no ethics above that and in the process they used the flesh of their family members and friend who were already dead. I believe that this was a very brave thing to do because we are generally not capable of doing such an activity but may be when we will feel that our life is endangered we may resort to such activities.
