Question
Conclude if Mrs. Robinson’s Report is accurate as compared to the Time Study Report. (use the standard 15% allowance factor for both groups)
For maids who have worked 1+ years what is the:
-Normal cycle time
-Standard Job time
For maids under 1 year what is the:
-Normal cycle time
-Standard Job time
Chart 1-Maid with 1+ years of service
Time Study Report A junior member on staff has conducted a time study report for two groups of maids. Chart 1 is for maids with 1+ years of service. Chart 2 is for maids with less than one year of service. Assume that the rating factor for each work element reflects normal work. According to Time study method the standard cycle time is calculated as follows:
1. Obtain the elemental times for each process element
2. Determine the performance rating (PR) of worker for each process element.
3. Calculate average time for each element
4. Compute normal time for each element as follows:
Normal Time = NT = Element average time x PR
Performance rating = 105%
For example, for element 1, the average time = 3.33 and performance rating is 105%,
Normal time for element 1 = 1.8 x 1.05 = 1.89 minutes
5. Determine the allowance factor (A) for the complete process.
Fatigue factor = 20%
6. Calculate Standard time as follows:
Standard time = (Total normal time) x (1 + A)
ST = (?NT) x (1 + 0.1)

Normal Cycle time
90.9
Normal cycle time = 90.90
Standard job time = NT x (1 + 0.15) = 104.54
The standard job time of the Maids with more than 1-year experience is very less than time required by maids less than 1-year experience.
