Question
You and your friends are ready and set for a full day of fun at this year's biggest music festival. Half way into the day, you somehow get split up from the group. Unfortunately you've been taking pictures and posting them to social media all day long, and your phone is on the brink of dying. Being at a music festival, the venue provides very little to no cell reception to begin with and you've neglected to agree on any rendezvous plans. The challenge is to conceptualize and design a solution that helps others find their friends easily in similar situations. Keep in mind: The context of a music festival (low to no reception, endless crowds, loud music, confusing way pointing and landmarks, etc.). Your solution should have more to it than using an air horn or any noise making devices. Think bigger than just using GPS and tracking on your mobile device. Please provide the following: A detailed description of your solution. Who are the users and what are their needs? What problems are you solving for? What kind of features does it contain, and why? What are the unknowns? A low-fidelity overview of your proposed idea (i.e. wireframes, flows, sketches). A high-fidelity deliverable of the solution or a component of it (i.e. rendering, UI, screen, interaction, video).Explanation / Answer
I read this solution somewhere.
1.The model will involve certain assumption that simplifies the situation. This will involve some simplifications, laid out below:
We can use a statistical software to simulate these situations as follows:
2. The users could be the group of people who attend music festivals. They could use these to find their friends in case they get lost.
3.We are solving the problem of finding a particular person or a particular group of people in a large crowd.
4. It is a stochastic process and it can have a range of possible solutions and so simulations have to be run.
5. The unkowns would be the number of steps anf the time that it will take to find your friend. In the model we must also provide an upper limit for these quantities.
