Question

The data in the accompanying table represent the number of com plants in randomly sampled rows (a 17-foot by 5-inch strip) for various types of plots. An agricultural researcher wants to know whether the mean numbers of plants for each plot type are equal. Complete parts (a) through (e) below. click the icon to view the data table. (a) Write the null and altemative hypotheses. Choose the correct answer below. OA. Ho: at least one of the means is diferent and Hy Heludge Wspring Hno B. Ho: sludge-uspring =Hno tll and H1, at least one of the means is different O G. Hoi Pauoge Haping and H: the means are different

Explanation / Answer

(a) OPtion B is correct here.

(b) Assuptions :

(i) Dependent variable must be in interval or ratio level.

(ii) independent variable must be in two or more categorical groups.

(iii) Samples/observations must be taken randomlly.

(iv) There must be no significant outliers.

(c) Here p - value = 0.003 < 0.05 significance level so we can reject the null hypothesis and can conclude that there is significant difference between three population means,

(d) Yes, as the boxplot of sprind disk is way outside of other two boxplots so yes, boxplots uggests that the there is significant differnece between population means.

(e) As we can see from box plot that ther data given have central tendency so we can say that it is normally distributed.
