Question

Servant Leader Behaviors foster this sense of community support and outreach. The behaviors begin with conceptualizing. This behavior allows the leader to look at the big picture and take into consideration the situation at hand while also being able to solve a problem or think of a solution that follows the values and ethics of the organization (Northouse, 2013). It is easy to see how this could easily spill over into community support. Being able to understand a problem in the community and see how a problem for a few can have lasting and over-arching effects on the entire community is conceptualizing. The sense of community support would from a servant leader would recognize this problem and have an urge to provide the support necessary to solve it or at least help and get others involved. Do you agree? Why or why not?

Explanation / Answer

I agree with the fact that servant leadership fosters community support and outreach. If we as a society follow the path of servant leadership, we would be able to tackle most of the global problem that we are facing like terrorism, corruption, climate change etc. Servant leadership is about understanding and empathizing with your community, put the community first like parents keeps their children and their requirement first, kind toward other people, help people to become independent individuals. Servant leaders create a culture of critical problem solving and sense of security.

Servant leader also teaches to be empathetic towards people or employees in an organization. It teaches us to lend shoulder and ear to people, to understand their problems, provide them with the necessary support. This way we would be developing people with improved productivity and positivity. Servant leaders believe in creating a culture of giving back to the society.

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, we can eradicate many global problems using this leadership model. Servant leaders are very ethical and honest. If we apply these principles, we can control or eradicate corruption from our society. Using different principles and skills of this leadership model, other problems can also be addressed. Servant leaders promote need to service the community as good communities’ produces good business. Servant leaders do not really behave like leaders who would dictate, they rather give chance to followers to decide for themselves.
