Question
A burger shop, which offers single and double burgers, has four stations in its kitchen to make a burger. Station 1 is the wood fire grill and the number of burger patties that can be cooked daily is normally distributed with a mean of 300 and a standard deviation of 42. The second station cuts and toasts the buns, and it can prepare minimum of 200 and maximum of 350 buns a day. The third station takes the buns and patties, and prepares the burger with the additional condiments that customers want. Throughput of the station 3 is normally distributed with a mean of 320 and a standard deviation of 80. Finally, the fourth station can take orders and serve the burgers to minimum of 250 and maximum of 350 customers a day. Daily demand for single burger is between 150 and 250. Double burger demand is 30% of the single burger demand for each day. Create a Monte Carlo simulation for this problem and answer the following questions;
1, What is the average number of customers in 30 days?
2, What is the average number of burgers prepared in 30 days?
3, What is the number of days that more than 15% of the demand is not satisfied in 30 days?
Explanation / Answer
1. Average number of customers in 30 days
since in fourth station the data of cusomers given mean can be derived as follows
250+350=600
600/2=300 customers on an average.
2. average number of burgers prepared in 30 days=132 burger
3. the number of days that more than 15% of the demand is not satisifed in 30 days is
expected value ev = sum of the outcome multiplied with probability
=0.15(30)=5 days.
bugers sold average for firs station 300 for second station (maximum and minimum) 200-350 for third station on an average 320 for fourth station (maximum and minimum)number of customesince in fourth station the data of cusomers given mean can be derived as follows
250+350=600
600/2=300 customers on an average.
