Question
17. There is a major flaw in the design of each of these weight loss ANOVAs. In fact, it would be more appropriate to use a different type of ANOVA. What type of ANOWA Wura nv more sense? (2 points) One wou mo0MaMewnwedb taf herWpfp would make 18. (Fill in the blanks) In ANOVA, the F value is statistically significant when the groups variance is significantly bigger than the -groups variance. (2 points) 19. Think more about number 18. Why must the first source of variation be bigger than the second source of variation to say that your findings are statistically significant? (2 points) 20. Very much related to 18 and 19, if you did an ANOVA, but you did not randomly assign people into their groups, how might you be increasing your chance of committing the Type l error? (2 points)Explanation / Answer
18) In Anova, the F value is statistically significant when the between group variance is significantly bigger than the within group variance.
19) The between source of variation be bigger than the within source of variation because if the variance caused by interactions between different samples is much greater than the variance found inside values in a single group, that indicates the means aren’t equal. If it indicates means are not equal consequently we will reject null hypothesis H0.
20) From above answers , if we not randomly assigned people to group this will make Variance between groups much larger than within the group and this will cause our F Statistic too large and therefore it will result type1 error means rejecting Null hypothesis when it is true.
