Question 1. Researchers are interested in whether there is relationship (correlation) between the locations of drug markets and the locations of homicides in Washington, DC. The figure in next page (source: p 205, McGraw) has two maps showing the spatial location of drug markets and homicide locations. To analyze the correlation between drug markets and homicide locations, 16 cells are placed over the maps and every market and homicide falls in one of the 16 cells.

Explanation / Answer

From graph we clearly observe that the location of drug markets and location of homicides exactly on the same directions. Therefore there is perfect positive correlation between the location of the drug markets and location of the homicides.
