Question
I've started the assignment but I'm not sure if my current answers are correct. I can't upload my excel document but I shared a screenshot.
1. Calculate the average and standard deviation for PSI for both the New England and Colts data sets
Patriots mean PSI: Blakeman = 11.11, Prioleau = 11.46
Standard deviation of Patriots PSI: Blakeman = 0.40, Prioleau = 0.40
Colts mean PSI: B = 12.63, P = 12.44
Standard Deviation of Colts PSI: B = 0.12, P = 0.35
2. Calculate the standard error of the mean for both data sets
Standard error of the mean (Patriots PSI): Blakeman = 0.1213, Prioleau = 0.1196
Standard error of the mean (Colts PSI): B = 0.0595, P = 0.1760
3. Calculate a 95% Confidence Interval for each team's average psi
Lower CI (Pats) =
Upper CI (Pats) =
Lower CI (Colts) =
Upper CI (Colts) =
4. The NFL requires each team to inflate the balls to 13 psi +/- 0.5 psi. Do either the Pats or Colts CI's show that they meet this standard? Why, or why not do the data support/reject this requirement?
5. Does the data show, that when allowing for vaiablity in inflation of each ball, that the Pats and Colts balls were inflated to "approximately" the same psi (statistically insignificant differences)? Why/why not do you conclude there were differences?
6. Are there any statistically significant differences between the 2 officials sets of measurements for each team? Why/why not do you conclude there were differences?
______________________________________________________________________________
The New England Patriots football team and staff have made the news recently for allegedly deflating the football (reducing the internal air pressure in order to make it easier to grip and throw the football) when the Patriots were on the offense. The balls were allegedly inflated to the higher, league requirement (13 PSI +/- .5 lbs) when the opponents were on offense.
In the documents folder in MyStatLab (and on Canvas -week 8) there is a copy of the data collected from 15 footballs that were measured at half-time of this year's Patriots/Colts games. 11 of the footballs were from when the Patriots were on offense. 4 of the balls come from when the Colts were on offense.

1) and 2)

colts
1) and 2) are correct , but you may want to increase the rounding to 4 decimal instead of 2 decimal as you have done
3)
