Using Chebychev's Theorem, determine at least how many of the eruptions lasted between 0.4 and 6.28 minutes At leastof the eruptions lasted between 0.4 and 6.28 minutes (Simplify your answer.) Enter your answer in the answer box and then click Check Answer

Explanation / Answer

n = 36

x = 3.34

s = 0.98

x-3s = 3.34 - 3*0.98 = 0.4

x+3s = 3.34 + 3*0.98 = 6.28

Here, k = 3

As per Chebyshev theorem, at least 1 - 1/k^2 proportion of observations will lie within k standard deviation

1 - 1/9 = 8/9 is the proportion

Total number of observations within k standard deviations is 8/9 * 36 = 32
