Question

Essay 5: Solving a Problem

For your final essay, you’ll be identifying a problem you see in the

world around you, and proposing a solution to it. As such, your paper

will need to do three main things.

First, you need to persuade your audience that whatever problem you’re

talking about is worth solving. For example, if you’re proposing a

solution to high text book prices, you first need to give some examples

from your own life that prove high text book prices are a problem (you

should be able to do this in one paragraph).

Second, you need to propose a detailed solution to the problem. This

should, ideally, be a fairly realistic solution. It doesn’t have to

completely solve your problem, but it should at least help it. Be as

detailed and specific as possible.

Third, you will need to acknowledge possible shortcomings of your

solution (or possible downsides of it).

Like with all the other papers in this class, NO OUTSIDE SOURCES.

Use your own experiences or the experiences of those you know

personally to make your case.
