Question Help ho were living near a water treatment plant with 3906 women from the rest of the population found a longer life span in women who were living near a water treatment plant Complete parts (a)-(c) below a. Identify the response variable and the explanatory variable Theresonse varable b. Is this study an observational study or an experiment? Explain O A. The study is an observational study because none of the variables are controlled by the researchers O B. The study is an experiment because at least one of the vaniables is controlled by the researchers O C. The study is an observational study because at least one of the variables is controlled by the researchers O D. The study is an experiment because none of the variables are controlled by the researchers c. Can we conclude that there's something connected with living near a water treatment plant that is responsible for the life span? Explain. O A. O B. ? ?. O D. Yes, because there is anecdotal evidence connecting the two variables No, because a lurking variable may exist that intuences both variables. Yes, because the study found an association between the two variables No, because it is unlikely that the two variables are connectedExplanation / Answer
Here the study is about the effect of water treatment plant on the life span of 2728 women. that is we want to test whether there is any effect of water treatment plant on the life span of 2728 women. if we assume that the total sample size is n,we have n1=2728,n2=3906 . A s we are trying to find the effect of of water treatment plant on the life span we can say that life span is dependent variable and water treatment plant is independent variable. dependent variable is also called Response variable, and independent variable is also called Explanatory variable.
a)Response variable is life span of women , Explanatory variable is water plant treatment.
b)See, here we can not control the variables. the variable are completely independent . so we would say that it is an observational study because none of the variables are controllled by researchers.
c)yes we can conclude that there is something connected with living near a water treatment plant that is responsible for life span. Because we find the study is dealing with those women who is living near the water treatment plant and the sudy found the assotiation between two variables.
