3. Presentation aids are used to increase the audiences’ understanding of the message, help them retain and recall the message better, add variety to make the presentation interesting, and provide a more polished look to the speaker’s speech; adding credibility to her.
Presentation aids are used as assistance during presentation, and it is very easy for the speaker to get caught up, and keeping talking to the presentation aid rather than focusing and engaging the audience. This can be due to nervousness, where the presentation aid is used as a veil, or if the aid consists of all the data to be delivered and the speaker simply reads out from that to the audience. In any of the above cases, the speaker ends up talking to the presentation aid rather than the audience, which eventually harms the sole purpose of the session, and thus affects the amount of knowledge retained by the trainees after their session, due to less engagement during the presentation.
