Question
Why are AC and BD perpendicular to m?? This is in hyperbolic geometry and we were given this definition with the illustration but I don't understand why are they necessarily perpendicular? Definition: Two lines t and m are hyperparallel lines if they are equidistant at two locations. Two lines l and m are said to be equidistant at two locations if there are two points A and B on one of them, say on t, such that the distance from A to m and the distance from B to m are equal Lines l and m are Hyperparallel.Explanation / Answer
In hyperbolic geometry, distance is always considered as the intersection of normal with the line and as always a normal is perpendicular to the given line, AC and BD are perpendicular to m.
