Explanation / Answer

Ms. Thatcher was an effective leader who would follow the autocratic style of leadership by taking the decisions based on her thoughts and ideas rather than involving anyone for it. She felt a true leader is one who is capable of taking right and quick decisions on her own without relying on others. She believed in her thoughts and did not take a second opinion to bring them into action. She was an effective communicator which made the people get influenced with her decisions and not being able to stand against her. She believed in building strong relationships with her colleagues and other political bodies.

All these features of her leadership style proved her to be an affective leader hence giving us lessons to follow and build the leadership and communication skills.

2. The pros of the belief that leadership is learned can be that leaders dont have to be genetic and they can be selected from the most efficient and skilled people. Nourishing the ones with leadership abilities to apply their abilities in the most efficient way in the present scenario is what is taught in leadership.

The cons of this belief can be that learning process of the leader can be time and money consuming with no surety of getting the desired results from the learning or training process. Styles and skills of leadership can be taught but the quality of practicing those skills in the most effective way is inbuilt. Hence leadership can be learnt but will be successful only if the leader is efficient enough to enhance their skills in the leadership styles.

3. Ms. Thatcher believed in taking up challenges and new experiences to grow as a leader because her strong decisive powers and determination to change what is not acceptable. She contributed in economic policies and made changes in the labour and product markets. She reduced the influence of the trade unions which was on heights before her leadership. Such big changes were brought in her leadership because of her mindset of taking up challenges to grow as a leader.
