1. Team effectiveness is how well the team is doing to achieve the goals of the organisation. The foundation of an effective team can be the reasons how the working as a team can bring the most effective results and growth for the company. For this purpose the team should possess the following:
- mutually agreed clear objectives of working in a team
- proper delegation of work to each individual in the team
- the resources to execute the work should be available and used appropriately.
- good communication between all in the group for any issue that arises in the processes.
- team effectiveness can only come if the leadership of the team is strong and effective.
- team work qualities such as trust, support, openness, cooperation should be there in each team member.
2. The pros of group decision making is as follows:
- information is more as each individual possess some knowledge ad information which when collaborated in a group, multiplies.
- diversed views and ideas can be obtained from all the members of the team for the decision making.
- as the decision is taken by a group of people the acceptability level will be high and hence action according to the decision can be taken easily.
- individuals get the feeling of involvement and participation in the work of the team on the whole.
The cons of group decision making can be:
- the process of getting the team organised and working on a decision in a group can be a time consuming issue.
- no one will want to take the responsibility if if decision goes wrong or brings negative results.
- having different views and perspectives the members of the group may not come to a mutual decision due to which some will compromise on others decision.
- it is a time, money and resources engaging process which can be expensive for the organisation.
3. The characteristics of high performance teams are-
- deep trust in each other
- common and mutual goals
- working together on accomplishing tasks is clear
- understand their responsibility an an individual in the group
- atmosphere is relaxed and stress free for ease of working.
- participation of every member is encouraged
- disagreements and conflicts are also considered
- leadership of team is as per requirement and can be shifted from time to time.
These characteristics work as qualities which differ the performing teams from the rest. Results from team work are derived best if the team is strong capable and effective enough to give that performance. A weak team having conflicts and disagreements cannot work effectively to bring prductive results. Hence these characteristics of a high performance team will differentiate it fron the rest.
