Review of the Nurture Argument

In contrast, nurture is described or defined as the external environmental factors that can influenced an individual behaviour from birth to death (Mojica, 2017)

When we talk about environmental factors we simply mean two major aspects such as,, physical environments (the good nutrition from patents )and social environments ( the social influence from family, peers, friends, and social media (Mojica, 2017).

In addition to, environmental factors can have a great impact on human behaviour and the development of personality in different ways or levels like, immediate impact which represents in (family, friends, and neighbours) followed by the social communication and interaction represents in society (school and community rules and policies) as a second level, and then bigger societal context which represents in (international factors such as politicians (Mojica, 2017).

Furthermore, these levels can be impacted by other external factors which can be differentiating through life stages. For instance, infants can be impacted not only by parents but also by daycare centers (care providers), and YouTube videos which are so common nowadays to be used and kids are exposed to. When we talk about the teen and middle stage we should mention the social media along with the parental s’ principles, community standards, and ethics views ((Mojica, 2017).

I can say that external factors affected directly the human behaviour, either physical or social and most cases social may play a greater part than physical based on the age stage ,ween we talk about teens definitely social media, and peers play a great role such as Snap chat, twitter, Face book and Instgram ,so parents influence here is limited compared to peers and social media.

Certainly, the effect of nurture is a great role in early human development such as childhood stage; I love the common saying ‘practice makes perfect.” As Nurture in some ways help individuals to learn from their mistakes by practicing and keep working on the negative behaviours in order to be switched by the positive or the desirable ones. As a result an individual’s behaviour can be improved by learning from practical situations and trying to adopt the challenges facing by the current environmental responses (Mojica, 2017).

Psychologists are able to prove through experiments that stepping practice for just few minutes many times a day which, have been applied to specific kids, was a great tool of helping them to walk several days earlier than infants who didn’t practice the that.(Zalazo, Zelazo & Kolb, 1972.) (Mojica, 2017)

Overall, personality is highly affected by the environment (nurture) as since the individual is born, or since birth individuals are determined to create their personality. In order to, achieve their own goals and maintain high self-esteem According to the philosopher. David Hume, “the mind is like a blank slate on which experience could be written.” (Hume, 1739–40).

Each person is experiencing some knowledge which affects his/her mental traits human behaviour, and personality development and that experience will be remembered and complied through his/her life and will form his personality development., a child who has been experiencing a positive reinforcement in his childhood will be more creative, smart and confident compared to a child who was exposed to negative reinforcement or (Shultz & Shultz 2016). For example, I am from the Middle East and have been exposed to positive reinforcement through my childhood from my dad who really affected my personality development and has contributed on my high self esteem and still till today when I am experiencing any life challenges, the first one and the first call should is for him just to get positive energy and get my elf confidence back.I wouldlike a clear summary of the follwing part:

Explanation / Answer

Review of the Nurture Argument

Nurture is defined as that aspect that is developed in an individual on the basis of the environmental influence that a person has. This develops the behaviour of an individual or in other words, this could be referred to as an influenced behaviour. This was studied by Mojica in 2017. He also studied the effects of environmental factors on the behaviour of a person. Environmental factors include two Major aspects, the physical environment, that includes nutrition provided by parents and the social environment, where the influence of family, fiends, neighbors, neighbourhood affects the personality and the upbringing of a child. In today’s world, the mass media and social media has a huge influence on shaping the intent of a child. The policies and norms that follow in the community influence how a child would perceive a particular situation. This forms the second level of influence on the personality of a person. The first level however, is the immediate contact that is formed by family, friends, teachers, mentors etc.

This influence varies depending upon the differentage group. For example, children are impacted by the immediate caregivers or the day care teachers. For the adolescents or the teenagers are influenced by YouTube, social media platforms such as twitter, Facebook or the views that they normally see prevailing in the society. At this age, the influence of parents is very limited. Here, the influence prevailing is that of the social environment.

In human behaviour, nature plays a more important role as compared to nurture. Though nature does prevail, but nurture can change the nature of a person. As said, practice makes a man perfect. In identifying the mistakes that a person does a person begins to change the mistakes that he would do. By changing their approach and learning from their mistakes, a person can switch their behavior in a positive or negative manner.

Research has proven that stepping practice has helped the children walk. This was researched by Zalazo, Zelazo & Kolb in 1972. According to the philosopher. David Hume, “the mind is like a blank slate on which experience could be written.” (Hume, 1739–40). Hence, the overall personality of a person is affected by his nurture. Personality is also affected by the knowledge that a person is obtaining throughout his life time along with the positive reinforcement that he would be receiving in response to a behavior. With negative behaviour, there occurs a negative attitude in carrying out a behavior. This was studied by Shultz & Shultz in 2016.

The confidence of a person can be boosted by the positive reinforcement that a person would get form their family and friends. People getting a proper positive reinforcement with motivations and encouragement to succeed and lead in their life would be important to boost the confidence of a person. In fact, people who do not get a positive reinforcement or proper encouragement, end up in developing low self esteem and low confidence.
