****This class is managing Diversity towards a globally inclusive workplace**** Chapter 16: Supplier Diversity***** Post needs to be at least 300 words.. please provide URLS...
A Supplier Diversity program is a proactive business program which encourages the use of minority-owned, women owned, veteran owned, LGBT-owned [1], service disabled veteran owned, historically underutilized business, and Small Business Administration (SBA)-defined small business concerns as suppliers.
We will also have an opportunity to analyze two large corporations, Safeway Stores Inc. and ConAgra Foods. Establishing a diverse and inclusionary supply chain system is not mandatory for private business. This is different from many Federal and State Agency guidelines. However, many corporations have found that the “goodwill” that comes from modeling diversity within its supply chain transfer into an economic benefit of the significant customer “brand loyalty”. Whatever the motive, our final topic for discussion confirms the initial message that many economists have advocated...that Diversity and Inclusion make good sense from both a business bottom-line perspective as well as the more virtuous motivation of seeking more opportunity and equity for all.
Our final discussion will offer us the opportunity to see how major corporations measure-up on the issue of Supplier Diversity.
