B. Summary: The employee has main role in the development of his career as he needs to understand each of the facts involved in the development very keenly. The employee works on it. Employee follows the methods of career development. It is only done if employee itself understand the importance of the career development and he has the will to work for it. The manager only motivates the employee. He encourages to work hard. The employer role here is to provide opportunity or a platform to grow and enhance the skill base of the employee.
For example, A candidate is hired by the employer for the profile of business analyst. So here the employer provides the opportunity to join the organization and develop candidate’s skills. The platform has been defined as per the candidate career choice or preference. Now after joining the organization the company the candidate is the employee of the company. He develops the quality in the employee such as leadership, positive role, ethical way of doing business operations, optimistic behavior etc. The manager encourages the employee to work hard or to achieve goals. He motivates, guide and work as a shadow to the employee. But the whole work should be done by the employee itself as without his will nothing can happen or change.
C. The four steps in effectively coaching an employee are as follows:
1. Agreeing on the issue or problem
2. Discus on the potential solutions
3. Take Action
4. Follow up Action taken
Agreeing on the issue or problem is the most basic step in the coaching of the employee. The employee has to agree that he needs the coaching so that he can accept the changes in his itself. The employee has to open with the coach to discuss the solutions of the problem. What the employee can do to resolve the problem or what he cannot. It is the brainstorming step in the coaching process. The though flows of the employees can be counted by the coach and suggest which has to enhance or what needs to narrow down so as to get the solution. Then the action needs to be taken by the employee. The coach only suggests how to implement the action. He can boost the employee’s will. The acquired solution by the employee should be effective when the it is on the proper track as per the decided one. Hence for tracking the process we need to follow up the method used. This can be done by the coach of the employee and find out the deviations. If the path is correct then no actions further required. Otherwise the solutions need to be altered at that instance of time.
