This verse of the Bible asks us to set our heart on the things of eternal life. We strive for things were our hearts are, so if we set our hearts on the eternal life that we have through Jesus Christ,we will definitely strive for it and will not stray away seeking the pleasures of this earthly life.
"But seek ye the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Mathew 6:33 KJV)
This verse is a promise that each of the follower of God's kingdom and righteousness have been provided with, to seek his kingdom and righteousness with all the might that one has and the rest will be provided as per the needs. When we seek the kingdom and reflect the goodness of God in our earthly life, we shall be provided with all the things that are necessary for our life be it career, clothes,food -the comforts of this life. But the necessary condition is that we shouldn't stray away from the vision and mission to reflect the goodness of our loving God in our life. We should build a relationship of trust with our God. We can still have all the comforts and luxuries of this life but at the cost of our eternity.
The severest discipline of a Christian life is learning to love as Jesus has loved us, to forgive and to have perseverance, reflecting the goodness of God in our life. When we start learn leaning on to God for guidance in every aspect of life and strive to reflect him, we grow in him and bear fruits for him with our life.
