Question

One of the most prevalent ways noted that fathers could help their prenatal fetuses develop, was through refraining from smoking, “Health practitioners are applying new research to suggest ways fathers can support healthy prenatal development. For Instance, fathers-to-be should avoid smoking. Secondhand smoke may affect the health of the mother and her unborn child. The lower the father smokes, the lower the birth weight of his children.” (Feldman 2015) Smoking is not the only substance that can affect prenatal development, but drugs and alcohol abuse can be harmful as well.” Alcohol and drugs impair sperm and may lead to chromosomal damage, which may affect the fetus at conception. In addition, alcohol and drug use may create stress in the mother and generally produce an unhealthy environment.” (Feldman 2015) For example, alcohol, if abused excessively, can impair mental judgement and decision making. Such to the extent that a father could become abusive to the mother with the right circumstances under the effects of alcohol. Similarly, drugs will ultimately have the same effect if the father becomes dependent on that substance. Whether its drugs or alcohol, any parent should avoid the abuse of drugs and alcohol. It is of utmost importance that the parents focus on the development of their prenatal child. And should avoid harmful substances and replace those type of habits with a healthier lifestyle. In conclusion, fathers who really focus on the health and importance of their prenatal child. Should refrain from all types of harmful substances and activities, such as smoking, alcohol, and drug abuse. Fathers who avoid these activities will in result create a healthier environment for their unborn child and significant other, which will ultimately create the safest and most advantageous environment for a prenatal child to grow and develop into a matured human being.

Explanation / Answer

Studies on prenatal feral development show a direct link between parents excessive or maladaptive consumption of substances such as alcohol and nicotine and the healthy development of the foetus.
