Question
In addition to not smoking, there are some other things that fathers-to-be can do to help ensure their unborn child develops normally in the womb. To start fathers-to-be should avoid smoking because secondhand smoke may affect the health of the mother and her unborn child. The more the father smokes, the lower the birthweight of his children (Feldman 67). Alcohol and drug use by the father can also effect the unborn child. They may impair sperm and can lead to chromosomal damage, which can affect the fetus at conception (Feldman 67). Alcohol and drug use can also create stress in the mother and therefore an unhealthy environment for her and the unborn child (Feldman 67). Stress in any person is unhealthy, but especially worrisome with a woman who is supporting a whole other life inside of her. An unhealthy environment can also unfortunately include fathers-to-be who are physically or emotionally abusive to their partners. Whether this abuse creates more stress or actual physical damage, it is unhealthy and a horrible situation for anyone to be in. Sadly, it is a fact that four to eight percent of women face physical abuse during pregnancy (Feldman 67). Fathers-to-be need to be caring and supportive to their pregnant partners. They need to treat them with the love and respect that they deserve, and help in any ways they can to ensure that their child develops correctly and is born happy and healthy. The father needs to encourage good and healthy behaviors and be there every step of the way, whether it is to run out and buy their partner a food they are craving, or joining them at a parenting class. It is so important for a child to be brought into a healthy and loving environment, and this healthy environment should be in place even before the child is born, and preferably before the child is even a thought. Every couple who wants children should want to do whatever they can to ensure their baby will grow how they are supposed to, and has a good environment inside the womb and outside the womb to develop in.
WHAT DO YOU AGREED OR HOW WOULD COMMENT ON THIS PASSAGE?
Explanation / Answer
Answer- I agree with the suggestions mentioned in the passage. It is very important for a father to be to stop smoking and drug abuse for the health of his unborn child. Infact these things should be taken care of before planning the baby. Smoking and the use of alcohol create an unpleasant environment for the baby as well as for mother. These harmful habits may lead to certain diseases in the child. Use of alcohol and drugs have adverse affects on the health of father to be and may harm sperm count or chromosomes. Except this, these things may result into stress which is not good for a pregnant lady. A father to be should take care of all these conditions and make the environment supportive and caring for his partner and baby.
Physical or mental abuse by men with their wives are very dangerous during pregnancy. Domestic violence is a crime and it should be stopped completely. It is the main resposibility of a father to create a healthy and happy environment for their partner for the proper development of the child inside the womb. The main motive of this passage is to provide guidance regarding the health of an unborn child and a pregnant lady. Taking care of both of them is the major responsibility of a father and a husband.
