Id actually like to post a question to the history department, like ive seen people do here; however, there is no option to do so. the question is the following:

Discuss any THREE of the following topics in relation to one another:

1. The Origins of the Protestant Reformation.

2. The corruption of the Church evident prior to the Reformation.

4. The changes in the Catholic Church brought about by the Counter Reformation, (or Catholic Reformation).

5. The formation of charter companies.

6. The practice of merchant capitalism.

7. The defeat of the Spanish Armada.

Could this please be transfered to the history subject because i know there is one but i cant do it.

Explanation / Answer

Corruption of the church - In the beginning of the 16th century, Catholic church was criticized by the people following clergy abuse. Indulgences and Justification were the doctrines at question and clergy corruption was tangential.

1. Church sold indulgence tickets (forgiveness) for money.

2. Many people did not understand the sermon, as it was in Latin.

3. Religious posts were sold for money.

Papacy lost its prestige. Invention of printing press spread awareness of the Church's corruption.

Protestant reformation

Martin Luther, a Catholic monk posted 95 theses on the power of indulgences started the Protestant reformation. Martin, who was an alleged enemy of the Pope was excommunicated. He was one of the early protestants and wanted a reform in the Church. Other eminent people who acted to stop it were Erasmus, Thomas Moore, Huldrych Zwingli and John Calvin. The protest led to split of the church into Catholics and other Protestant churches. Martin was the first one to translate Bible in German language.

Catholic-Counter Reformation

Protestant reformation triggered Catholic-counter reformation, a movement within Roman Catholic church aiming to reform itself. The areas covered were Doctrine, Structural reconfiguration, religious orders, spiritual movements and political dimensions. Following the protest reformation, Catholic church doubled its efforts and stressed some points on faith.
