This is politics need help with it. Civil rights and civil liberties are distinct ideas with important differences in our nation's history; their histories illustrate important elements of our constitutional design. Define civil rights and civil liberties using historical and current examples. Explain where in the Constitution each is protected. Make sure your historical account includes recognition of how the different branches of government have been active in defining rights and liberties. Does one of these areas - rights or liberties - continue to be a bigger source of conflict than the other? Explain your position with examples. 3.Explanation / Answer
civil rights are the basic rights or protection guaranteed to the citizens to enjoy freedom and equality without any discrimination or inequality such in matters of employment, educational opportunities or access to public facilities like bus service, recreational spaces, train service, etc. An example of civil rights is the protection of the people from discriminatory practices on grounds of personal traits such as race, gender, or disability, sexual identity in the workplace as enshrined in the federal laws. Civil rights are not only granted by the government but also contain a protection clause for preventing violation of those rights. Civil rights in the United States had involved major legislations from the Congress whether it be the case of the Civilian rights of the Coloured people as led by Dr. Martin Luther King, or the ERA or Equal Rights Amendment that fought for securing women’s protection in the employment sector.
Civil liberties on the other hand are the more broad based rights that are either explicitly given in the Bill of Rights in the American Constitution or are interpreted or inferred through legislatures or courts. The right to marry is a civil liberty as enjoyed by all US citizens under the Bill of Rights.
