(2) Appear intended:
i. to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
ii. to influence the policy of a government by intimidation ot coercion;or
iii. to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
(3) Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
This is a conceptual definition. Write an operational definition, then see how it applies to stories about terrorism in a local paper or news source.
Explanation / Answer
An operational definition of domestic terrorism can be the act of violent intimidation that create fear and paranoia and target either the whole or part of the masses and is aimed towards disrupting the state machinery. This definition draws from the opinion of the lay persons and media projections of inland terrorism. Thus for instance, the recent acts of Cleveland gun violence which targeted the population of school going youth or the killings of the Male sexual minorities in Miami last year were exemplified in the media as acts of terror which targeted domestic security.
