You are working for a social services agency, and in the course of a conversation with a client, you discover that she has been using heroin. The client is the only parent for her two young girls, ages 4 and 6, and is currently living with her boyfriend who she discloses is also using heroin. She is employed part-time at a grocery store and receives food stamps and aid for dependent children.

An agency policy states that any client suspected of using illegal drugs must be immediately referred to rehabilitation, and if he or she refuses, you can no longer see the client at your agency. When you explain this rule to the client, she gets angry, walks out, and states she'll "blow this place up." What do you do? Would you be required to share any of the client's information? Which information? With whom?

Well,since the client is not ready to listen therefore a case management approach needs to be taken up for such a sensitive case and contact the legal authorities for it. The agency needs to work together with legal authority to solve this case. And,yes client information will be have to shared to device a rehabilition plan for her. A case manager,needs to be contacted who can deal with this situation.The case manager must negotiate an agency's rules in order to gain access or continued involvement on behalf of a client,for which we as the client need to provide manager with complete information about her drug problem as well as personal information so that they can study the case and provide effective alternatives for treatment and other options as well.
