Question
Peer review the following for Clarity: Was the work clear, organized, and easy to follow? Content: Was the content appropriate to the task, accurate, and supported? Process: Is the overall development and progression of the project sound and feasible/realistic? Quality: Does the work appear to meet the overall goal of the project by “creating hope in the world by understanding and improving relationships”? I have created three surveys to evaluate the success of the program that will be issued at the end of the program to the participants (grouped by age 6-9 and 10-14) and the parents/guardians of the participants. (see section 7) I have also created a survey that will be issued to the facilitators to get their feedback regarding the program as a whole and any ideas they may have that will improve the program. I will research further solutions to any difficulties experienced to make sure the program is growing, improving and providing the best support to participants. According to Youth Mentoring Initiative (YMI) there are of 5% of students identified each year as needing one-on-one support for various reasons ranging from: failing classes delay in graduation being disconnected receiving multiple disciplinary referrals going through a life crisis YMI also states that “37% of students 5-12 report having no sense of hope and 76% of student who had a mentor for more than a year said they felt better about their future” (YMI, 2018). This further proves the need for support for the youth community at large. Per Maslow Hierarchy of Needs the basic needs have to be secured before a person can realize growth in any other parts of their lives. Social issues must first be addressed. I researched and found the Indiana Quality Mentoring Standards, Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring, that I will be able to use to sustain an impactful strong program. The standard topics include: I will collect all completed surveys and analyze them to make improvement and adjustments based on the feedback for the next 6-week program session. I will list lessons learned and the
Explanation / Answer
1. The work needs to be more clearly organised, as the arrangement of the passages are slightly haphazard. The topic should be introduced first, followed by a brief explanation of the existing literature and then by the methods by which the author aims to investigate it.
2. The last sections of the content need to be improved. The Maslow’s hierarchy theory and social issues are discussed here but their relevance to the project is not mentioned at all.
3. The progression of the project sounds feasible and realistic but needs to be defined more clearly. For example what is the purpose of having theee surveys? How can the satisfaction data be combined with pointers for improvement?
4. Yes, the work appears to in line with the overall goal of the project.
