Explanation / Answer

1. After getting to learn about intelligence in this module, it has begun to appear much clearer that intelligence is a much broader concept which covers an individual’s general ability to learn new information, master skills and cope with everyday problems in a competent manner. It is difficult to narrow down intelligence to performance score on a paper and pencil test as there are societies and cultures across the world which may not value literacy and but nonetheless have their own norms and stnadards about what is intellectual proficiency( Morgan & King, 2009). Moreover, intelligence as measured by tests such a study the given one gives an estimates about only some of the few dimensions or types of intelligence such a study abstract reasoning and verbal ability items in the given test of intelligence. However, it is now an established fact by the Theory of multiple intelligence (Gardner, 1987) that intelligence is also about mastery of tasks related to bodily kinaesthetic ability, ecological and other environmental knowledge, etc and such test results can therefoe only reflect on a part of one’s intellectual capacity but not predict success or give an overall score of one’s intellectual ability. Thus, this intelligence test can help to give me a picture of my intelligence in terms of an IQ score as a reference point but it cannot be the final outcome.
