1. (a) No, I do not meet the requirement of 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least five times a week.
(b). Some of the things that I can do to improve upon my fitness is that I should take the stairs instead of the elevator. When I am going to the nearby areas I should walk rather than take a vehicle. Lastly, I think I should be more active around the house such as do cleaning and mow the lawn myself. I think doing this much will improve my fitness levels.
(c). One of the most desired benefits of improving the fitness would be losing those extra pounds that I have gained from leading a sedentary lifestyle. Another advantage would be building stamina.
2 (a). No, I can definitely not call my street "walkable". There is heavy traffic on the road and there is no dedicated space for people to walk. One has to be very cautious while walking down the road.
(b). In my neighborhood, mostly detached single-family detached homes are there.
(c). It is an urban neighborhood.
(d). Except for the library, every other facility is at a convenient distance. It takes around 15 minutes for me to walk up to the grocery store, post office, bank or a coffee shop. As far as the library is concerned I have to travel to the other part of the city which is some twenty-five minutes by car.
3. If I had the opportunity and implement the plan to improve my city to be more walker-friendly, then I would have dedicated space along the roads for the people to walk. These paths will be at a height above than the normal road so that there is a safe distance from the moving vehicles. I will also build overbridges and underpass for people to cross the roads safely. I will set a very slow moving speed for vehicles moving around the vicinity of colonies and schools. I will suggest to the people to walk as much as possible. If they have some work in a nearby area then I would encourage them to walk up to that area. I would organize walking expeditions on Sunday mornings in the colonies to promote the idea of walking for health and fitness.
