Dear Mrs. Leverette,

We have received your letter dated 5th February 2018 about one of our hotel policy to keep pigeons away. I am extremely sorry to have hurt you Mrs. Leverette and that you had to take the trouble to write back to us at the hotel. We would like to assure you that we are bird lovers too and we would refrain from taking any action or draft any policy that would harm the natural eco system.

We had faced several complaints in the past from our honorable guests that pigeon droppings were splattered all over the hotel including on the floors, walkways. We were very sad to hear some critical complaints wherein the droppings had fallen on our guests and they had to face huge inconvenience due to this. Though we tried to shoo away the pigeons initially, but the problem did not get solved and number of complaints increased.

In order to stop the inconvenience caused to our guests, we used Avitrol , a drug, as we were told by an expert exterminator that this drug when used on the pigeons would get them disoriented and pigeons won’t be able to find back Hilon. However, we were shocked ourselves to read the news after few days that it caused death of innocent pigeons. We have mistaken at our end, as we should have done some research about the use of this drug prior to the implementation. Since we more focused on taking care of our esteemed guests like you Mrs. Leverette, and treating pigeons didn’t fit in our expertise, we consulted an exterminator. Having realized our mistake, we have immediately stopped the use of Avitrol.

We are now considering installing netting that forms a transparent barrier that would seal the entry of birds. We have found that it has been used at Maricopa County Jail in downtown Pheonix. We would do an extensive research and would also involve the local ornithologists to help us advise on this matter and suggest us appropriately. We would implement this only after due consideration.
