Think of some marriages with which you are familiar. (The marriages of parents or friends might qualify. You may use your own marriage if you are or have been married.) After reading the information in Chapter 11 about women in the labor force, consider whether or not the females in the marriages you have identified work outside the home or have worked outside the home for some significant amount of time during their marriages. As you perceive it (you may want to talk with them to verify that your perceptions are accurate), how has their employment affected their marriages and their families? Has it been mostly a positive effect, mostly negative, or some of both? Does it matter if theirs was a dual earner family as opposed to a dual career family?

Explanation / Answer

Based on the data that is very limited ,of those who are my friends,family members , women around me, working women population where I work, or patients with whom I interact, based on the information provided by them in a unstructured interview, all married working women have to look into their family as well as their professional life.

Working women is like a coin having two sides, Employment can affect in both a positive and negative ways.

It all depends on how well a women manages both her work and her family.

Advantages of employment of a women

- working women is more knowledgeable and confident,has more awareness about things around which helps her take care of family more efficiently

- Is independent and can singel handedly deal with problems and difficult situations faced .

- provides economic stability to the family

Disadvantages:

- have to face lot of stessful situation while handling both family and work,she has hardly any time left for herself

- managing time efficiently becomes difficult,so cannot open much time with children and her husband

So in all it can be a positive , negative or both effects, depending on how well both positions of family and work is handled by a women.
