Question

The other "quizzes" are actually Study Guides about each chapter and are completely optional- howeve all of the questions that you will see on your exams will come out of these qui interest to do them. As a small incentive, I have made them worth 1 point apiece for e points are extra credit points only - your grade will not suffer if you decide not to do them, and they can enhance your grade at the end of the semester! Like the SmartBook Practices, they will only be available for credit during the Unit the chapter is in, up until the exam for that Unit. You will not get points for them after that, although they zzes! Therefore, it is in your best even attempting them. These will still remain a I vailable in case you wish to access them to study for the cumulative exam. Unit Papers: You have some choices when it comes to these assignments. For each of the 4 Units, you will have a Unit Paper d Canvas towards the end of the unit. You are to pick one of them to write about, not all 3. Which one you do is your choice. You may only pick a question from the current unit-you cannot go back and do one from a chapter not in the current unit. will post one question about each of the 3 chapters in the unit in the Announcements section on Even though this is a psychology course, no specialized information about psychology is needed to write these papers- they will be based on information in the Textbook and information you can synthesize easily. Note: These are NOT research papers! Do NOT go online and look for information to put in these papers from ANY outside sources! Use the information that is presented to you in your textbook, and answer the questions in your OWN WORDS-to use the same words as the Textbook is PLAGIARISM. Paraphrase the information in the Textbook, and answer the question that way. The links describing plagiarism are at the end of this syllabus. Since there are likely to be many different majors represented in this class, I am not requiring APA style for the papers. However, they must sti entences and in paragraph form, double-spaced at least one full page of text. your papers longer I will not count that as part of your answer to the question, and you may get points taken off for not being at least one full page. You may also not use extensive quotes from the textbook to pad out your paper. A sentence or two is fine, but I want your own words.(see above), You may go over the minimum required length if you wish to in order to complete your thoughts or to discuss something further, but you won't get more points for a longer paper. Do not use MLA headings, either - simply write your name and other information about the paper on the first two lines of the paper as such: Do not re-write or paste the question prompt again on your papers in order to make Name Class name and secti Unit Paper #/Title Date Turned All modern word processors have both spell checkers and grammar checkers-so I will take off for misspellings or grammatical errors as they interfere with the clarity of the paper. You must have 1-inch margins on all sides of your papers, and you may not use fonts larger than 12pt, Papers are due at the beginning of class (i.e., no later than 2:00). Late papers will be penalized. You will lose 1/5 of the points value for the paper for each wesk late you turn your paper in. If your paper is worth 20 points and due on Monday, and you turn your paper in after class is over or on the next class day (on Wednesday), 4 points will be taken off the final grade. If you turn it in on the following day, it is a week late and 8 points will be taken off the final grade. If you turn it in the Wednesday after that, it is two weeks late and 12 points will be taken off the final grade, etc. Nothing will be accepted after April 30. No exceptions. Papers may be turned in early if you know you will miss class. Yes, I am old school. I want printer copies of these papers. Do not turn in papers to me via email or Canvas unless specified. Turn papers in on the date due in class. In an emergency, you may turn in a paper via email to me if you have discussed your emergency with me prior to the due date. There are also other extenuating circumstances that I will allow papers to be turned in over email, on an individual basis. Please note that even if I allow you to turn in a paper via email, I will not grade it until I get a hard copy. The emailed copy is for me to check the hard copy against and make sure it is the same paper that was ready on the date due. However, my overall policy is no emailed papers. Also, keep your papers when I return them to you. This is to protect both of us if a grading error is made, and you need to prove that you made a certain grade. Invariably there will be students who wish to obtain an exception to the above policies. Please note that because the due dates of all papers and exams are stipulated in this syllabus on the CLASS SCHEDULE, and because you receive the syllabus on the first day of class, you are aware of the due dates from the first day of class This gives you time to prepare. 1 strongly suggest that you plan ahead - do not wait until the last minute
