Question
for example you read many of your books on screens and e-readers today. This a a change from the past, in fact there have been university libraries that have opened without any physical bookss(e-books) only. Thanks to the internet and smartphones, people do not have to memorize information the way they did in decades past. Reflect upon this information and then respond to the following:
1. Are philosophers correct to be concerned with this shift?
2. How does the way in which you take in knowledge change for you?
3. Discuss the pros ad cons of the epistemological shift in a essay.
Use at least two credible sources to support the argument in APA format 2-3 pages long not counting title page and reference page.
Explanation / Answer
1.This shift is a concern till the extent we dont realize the point at which the dependency on technology needs to be curbed. Disseminatio of knowledge has always taken place through books and verbal lores, but with the advent of technology many of these forms are used lesser amd lesser.
2. The way on which knowledge was imparted for tactile in form which has a connection with the reader, but now there is a pseudo tactile component that has been added in the repertoire of technology. This form has changed the way on which we perceive communication and knowledge.
3. The epistemological shift has sundry pros and cons. There are novel problems that have arisen of the horizon for the collective human race, which is the issue of piracy, ideological theft, and crimes that are taking the route of technology, whereas the pros can be that the use of technology has made information and knowledge easily accessible to all the masses across the globe, making it easier for the dissemination to take place.
This shift has although increased access to not only aspects of knowledge that are for the benefit of the human race, but they have also opened the portal to many other forms of knowledge that have become a threat to the peace of the world, which could be the antagonist volatile and extremist groups.
There are pros and cons to everything, but it depends on the user to exercise their will and select that path that they choose to make. Although, the question remains, whether having the mere liberty to do something increases the probability to engage in a certain behavior, even if it is harmful/maladaptive in nature.
