2. Yes, young children today are more likely to experience separation anxiety disorders as compared to the children of earlier generations. This is because the range of stressful events in this generation has increased. College stress, school stresses, stresses from peers, stresses due to economic status all have increased. Also, the divorce rates today have become much greater that adds emotional stresses on the children. This is even more for the children at lower ages.

3. For a 20-25 year old, separation anxieties shape into depression. They might be faced with irrational fears or phobias and be underconfident in representing themselves in front of the office or the college. They might not know how to cope up with stresses without being directed by a parent. They might not be able to form many friendships. They might be worried about failures and that they might become outcast if they are not successful at a presentation or a seminar. Factors contributing to SAD for college students are:
