Explanation / Answer

Direct mail is much more beneficial in cases when the product or service in the market is for a shorter time and it might disappear in future, this is because of the fact that people do not read all the emails and most of the people read less than 10% of the promotional emails and hence your email might be read by the customer when that promotion is already over and hence it is always good to send a direct mail in order to communicate a short term offer. Also when less amount of customers are to be targeted i.e. the target segment is small and it is essential to involve a personal experience and personal touch in the message that the organization wants to communicate it becomes essential to send a direct mail as in a smaller segment it becomes possible to introduce and customize the message to incorporate a personal touch with the objective of increasing the sales. Lastly to re-tap those customers who have stopped using the products of an organization which they use to use it before it is essential to send a personalized direct mail with the objective of gaining that customer v=base again as retaining a customer is always cheaper than gaining a new customer.
