The characteristics mentioned below should not be assumed to apply to every man or every woman, because of course, there are exceptions in every kind. The traits mentioned below are based upon their presence in the average man or the average woman.

1a) Females have the most number of positives. This is because females have all those characteristics that make them responsible for maintaining a balance within the society. Although the traditional notions of patriarchy would not agree with this concept, it is undeniable that without females, males would not have been able to survive. A woman is not only the bearer of life, she also nurtures and sustains the life she has created. We are all dependent upon our mothers for love, care and protection. The caregiver that a woman is, makes her take a lead in the social structure. It is she who can make or break a social structure.

1b) As mentioned above, Males have the most number of negatives. While acknowledging all their positive characteristics, it would be wrong to overlook their negative ones. These negative characteristics are a result of the residual patriarchal culture that prevails in our societies even today. Although with time, the traditional notions of patriarchy have subsided to a great extent, there are instances where males have proved that they still consider themselves as a superior race. Their attempts to make them look stronger and unaffected by emotional upheaval make it difficult for them to vent out their frustration. This makes them resort to aggressive modes of expression. Another factor that needs to be mentioned is the society’s acceptance of aggression as a symbol of masculinity. This again reinforces the dominating attitude of a man and makes him use aggressive modes of behaviour in order to assume power over females, which is again considered as a negative trait.
