"Conflict ", this word ushers a cloud of negativity, competition and resistance. It sounds so much llike a struggle that its difficult to comprehend the idea of a positive conflict. How can something as challenging and threatening can create a positive impact.

People have varying personalities. They have reaction patterns and thought processes different than each other. When people of such variety work as a team and that too to pursue a commonly held goal, conflict is inevitable.

If this conflict, which is oftenly viewed as a negative/threatening/ overwhelming situation,is channelized in a way that the employees are reminded that we can agree to disagree and the difference of opinion is a healthy off shoot to the work being done and the creative faculties being harnessed for the achievement of goals.

When one is involved in the achievement of the group goal and consider one's solution as the best and the absolute one, any counter solution/strategy is seen as a challenge/threat to our plan of action. Positive conflict allows one to move beyond the irrational emotional attachment towards the solution to a more rational and optimal result oreiented approach.

Positive conflict allows the group to holistically think and weigh each option and finally chose the best of way through. This can also help employees to accept their colleagues on a more objective basis where they appreciate their expertise and knowledge and dont feel threatened by their advancement. when done so employees also learn immensely, as they move out of their comfort zone. This entire drill makes the solution and system possible full proof.
