Intentional abortions are performed by chemical or surgical means, and millions are performed worldwide every year” (Jones & Demarco, 2016).

Using Kant’s ethical theory, describe a scenario (hypothetical or real) for each of the following and give reasoning why Kant would a) justify an abortion and b) not justify an abortion.

Explanation / Answer

Kant would not justify an abortion as for Kant killing of human under any circumstances or at any stage is morally wrong. Humans have freedom to choose rationally and rationality of human beings do not permit the killing of human life whether it is a full grown adult human being or just the beginning form of human form, the embryo.
