1. The video graphic mode of Prof. Cohen’s talk on the rights of the LGBT community was found to be deeply enriching in terms of its manifold levels of immersion into the social processes behind the normalisation of a group. The lectures brings forth an interesting line of evidence about the current issues surrounding the legalisation and /or ban on the same sex marriage laws in the different state sof the United States, particularly California. However, the talk moves beyond the value framework of whether same sex marriage is a libertarian or a transgressive law to analysing it in terms of other power relations and hierarchies. Dr. Cohen presents a cogent argument that queer right should remain under attack within the otherwise libertarian US society because sexual minorities are structurally Linked with other nontraditional or minority families namely: the family of non White communities or racial minorities- Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, single parents, the economically lower class families, as all of these pose an alternative and therefore a threat to the continued existence of traditional heteronormative families as the norm within the White patriarchal society.

Thus, the video is found to be quite educational in its approach towards the varied social hierarchy and how the queer movements in particular can critically use the social structuring in pushing forth their legal agendas.
