Safe Kids Oklahoma was founded in 1989 by the late Martha Collar. Martha was a trailblazer in injury prevention for the state of Oklahoma. Her dedication and passion for the safety of Oklahoma’s children helped pave the way for injury prevention education in our state. With her leadership and passion, our OK chapter was able to give away hundreds of free car seats, offer numerous car seat checks, and implemented the WHALE program in Cherokee County. WHALE (We Have a Little Emergency) were stickers placed on car seats to help first responders gain viable information about the child in case of an accident. It was a great time in life and I will always be grateful to the wonderful work and message of Safe Kids. Introduction- The child care is basic instinct of humans and non-humans, throughout the year unnatural death of more than one million children occurs due to lack of child safety education and help.

Safety of children is very serious subject for us, we want to keep safe our children but wanting is not an effective idea until we no to do something effective for our children.

WHALE Program- we have a little emergency, is a child safety program focused on rescue workers and automobile accidents. The effective car safety program by a care giver from Virginia. The program made significant difference in child safety and the effectiveness of the program attract and aware the people. The program consist three parts those are-

1- Information labelling, sticker etc. about the kids.

2- Car seats sticker use to the side of the seat.

3- Vehicle’s window stickers to aware the people, caregiver etc.

Safety Precautions-

1- Home safety: The home safety is very important to prevent child injuries, if we get aware and trained to handle such kind of situation, we can manage the child safety by education, awareness and effectiveness.

2- Fire Safety: Every day at least one child died from residential fire, the fire safety program can help to parents, family members and caregivers to improve the level of safety in the condition of fire accidents.

3- Car Safety: The car safety is also important for children, statistical survey showed that large number of children get injuries due to the unsafe condition. The program educate parents and family members about the car safety.
