Question
We find that a longitudinal study requires massive plenty of time and at sometimes are often very expensive. Due to its expensiveness, the study tends to have few groups of subjects, which at times makes it harder to relate the results to a bigger population. Another big problem is that various participants at times drop out of the study, reducing the sample size while decreasing the amount of the collected data.
What are some changes you think could be made that would help support the study today based on the problem you identified?
Explanation / Answer
Longitudinal study is generally carried out over a large amount of time, for example if one was to study poverty in a particualr social setting, all the participants may not be there as they will leave the study to move out if they find a job or recieve more income, this will affect the study and reduction in data collection and participants.A longitudinal study is often called a case study and it is a cohort study.cross sectional study can be used as it is quicker than longitudinal study. An advantage of longitudinal study is that is has a cause effect relationship.Ceratin studies require a large amount of time to obtain the results so these are the bias that they will face during the study. The limitation can be overcome by using the exisitng documentation available to complete the study.
