Question
You will be asked to consider a variety of issues about love, marriage and sex when writing your journal.
There are no minimum or maximum numbers of pages and there is no "right" or "wrong" way to write a journal...this experience is truly personal.
Consider the following questions and respond to all of them in your journal:
Describe how you "learned to love."
Describe how you felt when you realized you were "in love." If you have yet to experience this feeling, describe how you think you will feel. Why do you believe what you described is what romantic love feels like?
In looking for an intimate partner, what "turns" you on? No, I'm not getting super personal...I'm talking about what makes you connect to someone? Is it a physical body type? A certain look? A specific body part? Is it an instant connection? Is it knowing someone deeply over a long period of time? Is it spontaneity?
What kind of partner do you want?
How do you differentiate between infatuation, lust and love?
Can you be "in love" and be autonomous? Why or why not? What does this condition "look" like? If you don't know what autonomous means...don't guess! Look the word up in the dictionary.
If you are married (or were married), what were some of your beliefs about love before you were married and what are your beliefs today? How/why have they changed? If you have never been married, what do you believe marriage should be like? How realistic to you think your being in your beliefs?
Describe your "perfect" lover. Describe yourself as the "perfect" lover. Again, think more than just the physical aspect of a lover.
What type of love have you experienced? What type of love have you given? Describe the experiences. Does one have greater value over the others? Why or why not?
Do men and women love differently? Why or why not? When you thought of this question, did you base your response on your experiences? Your parents marriage? Stereotypes?
What does the term "self-love" mean to you?
How do you know when it is "true love?" How do you "measure" this experience?
