Explanation / Answer

Dependant varaible is a variable which is measured. That forms the basis of our experiment. The dependent variables can not be changed or manipulated it remains constant.

Independent varaible - It is the one which is used to measure dependent variable. Independent variable can be changed or manipulated.

For eg: if we want to study do the TV stuff leads to more agressive behavior in children, here agressive behaviour is depedant varaible whereas TV shows is independent variable, TV shows can be replaced by showing them movies, showing something on internet, youtube etc.

I find Spearman test of correlation or Spearman's rank the most approriate, since it measures the coreelation between two factors.It can be appliednto qualititive as well as quantitive data
